Arthur Rann Elementary School is located in a residential neighborhood of Galloway, New Jersey. For the last few years, Ms. Johanna has worked with student leadership teaching the children that they can make a difference in the world, no matter how old or young they are.
One of the ways she does it is to create and encourage healthy competition and provide the atmosphere that even one can matter. The kids then organize, box, and bring the cans outside so we can transport them to our food pantry.
I’m not sure which was better yesterday, the absolutely beautiful weather inviting us into spring, or the joy on the students’ faces when I explained that their gifts would take care of some children who are just like them. That realization wasn’t lost as they absorbed the message that their care and actions make a huge difference to so many.
1,300 CANS! That showed love, care, and gentleness!!!
Let’s pray today for all our children, the givers, and the recipients. And let’s pray for all the Ms. Johannas out there who are teaching kids to care. May God bless them as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow!
