Your Legacy is Appreciated

“The Lord said to Abram: leave your country, your family and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you. I will bless you and make your descendants into a great nation. You will become famous and be a blessing to others.”

— Genesis 12:1-2

Yesterday was an extremely busy day, but I was blessed to have opportunities to speak to a few people about their leadership and legacies. They were all from different fields, but a common element was shared in all the conversations.

Their greatest joy, and indeed pride was found in the people who they were able to teach and inspire. The energies provided by students can be the positive benefit in difficult situations. The success of those individuals who followed a path of instruction and excelled in whatever field chosen is a tangible reward for dealing with any of the problems that arise.

The realization that future students and leaders had their beginnings in someone believing in them: many times even before the individual was aware of their own potential is a gift.

Thousands of years after Abram who became Abraham is still remembered for the faith he placed in God and passed down; even to this day.

Perhaps we may not be remembered quite as clearly, but if one person comes to their full potential because of our efforts, that can be enough reward for a job well done; and a moment for us to give thanks to God for the opportunity.
