“Always place your trust in God. Tell Him your problems. God is our place of safety….”
Psalm 62:8
Last night, a wildfire began at the Jersey Shore. An area where many people live, work and play is now a place evacuated, major roadways are closed, and the fire is only 10% contained. This is an area which was also impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and for years afterwards.
Firefighters are working hard, emergency shelters are open and occupied, and various agencies are providing emergency assistance.
People are worried.
This morning’s description of the events close by isn’t exclusive to New Jersey. Fires are one of the most frightening occurrences that threaten our day to day existence and environment.
As I reflect on Psalm 62, and remember years of enjoyment in this area, would you all please join me in a morning prayer?
“Loving God of all creation, please send Your protection over all the firefighters battling this wildfire. Keep them safe and ahead of the danger. Give them Your strength and the wisdom to control the battle. Please shower Your mercy and protection over all the residents who are affected. Calm their spirits, strengthen their minds and give us the ability and resources to stand alongside them as the return home when conditions are safe.
We ask, we trust and we believe You can make miracles happen, so we place ourselves in Your arms. Amen.”
