“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they divided up His clothes by casting lots.”
Luke 23:34
So often we just don’t know what we’re doing. But how often after we’ve hurt someone do we search for forgiveness?
Jesus was betrayed, denied, tortured, berated, beaten and finally killed in the most brutal way possible…….
He asked God to forgive those who didn’t know what they did.
Jesus spent His years praying for, healing and loving people, and they turned on Him……
He asked God to forgive them.
Jesus worked on elevating the human condition by giving the downtrodden and the berated dignity through kindness; His efforts were forgotten…..
“Father (Daddy) forgive them.
None of us has ever experienced what Jesus did, yet before His death, He not only forgave His oppressors, he asked God’s forgiveness upon them. Can we live into the example He gave? Can we forgive and release that which hurts us?
We have His example of love, even to His death…….
“Greater love has no Man than to lay down His life for a friend….”
Even through the darkness of death, we have an example of life’s best…
And remember, Sunday’s coming…
Praying for you!
